About the event

Please join us for a walk around Forest Hill, visiting some of its landmark public houses, and the sites of some lost gems.  Expect a convivial afternoon with a little local history and some tales of old and new Forest Hill.

Meeting at Forest Hill Railway Station for a 1.30pm departure, our circular walk takes in five pubs, with time to enjoy brief refreshment in each, before finishing around 5.30pm at the All Inn One, where you are welcome to stay and enjoy the hospitality.

The 3 mile route leaves the station and follows Perry Vale to the recently refurbished Prince of Wales.  From there, we follow the SE23 boundary to The Perry Hill, and on to the famous Blythe Hill Tavern on Stanstead Road.  We then take the high road up to Blythe Hill Fields to admire the views of London from its peak (the low road is also an option) before descending to the General Napier, a hidden neighbourhood gem.  Stopping at the Railway Telegraph on our return leg, we finish at the All Inn One on Perry Vale.

Our guide for the afternoon is Ian White, a local resident of 27 years and long term active member of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).  Ian has run a number of beer and cider festivals, numerous pub walks and makes his own One Tree Hill Cider.

Please note that drinks are not included – you are of course welcome to buy your own, alcoholic or otherwise.  We will be spending around 30 minutes in each pub.

Full details of the walk will be available on our website, and published on GoJauntly, so if you can’t make the date, you can follow the route any time you wish.

Note: at this stage we are planning for no more than 30 participants so please register your RSVP so we can know numbers. If the demand is for many more, we may make alternative arrangements, so if it is full, please add your name to the waitlist and we will be in touch
